Illinois PAS Day of Percussion 2017

On Saturday, February 4, 2017, the Africa->West Trio performed to a full house at the Illinois Percussive Arts Society Day of Percussion, held at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL.

The trio performed several works from their most recent recordings, Abure and Loud Fossil, as well as an early crowd favorite, “Yambusawa,” and a new, unrecorded piece.  As with most AW performances, co-founder Josh Ryan informed the audience about the trio’s mission to bend genre expectations and eliminate ideas about “high” and “low” culture.
